This WWII-era German Morse code telegraph key is constructed with a black Bakelite mechanism housing mounted on a rectangular reddish-brown base. The hinged cover bears a molded lightning-bolt symbol and the warning "Vor dem Öffnen Stecker herausziehen," translating to "Unplug before opening." Beneath the cover are the metal contact arms, knurled adjustment screws, electrical contacts, and key lever with black operating knob. The attached cable terminates in a two-pin European plug marked “5555" with additional manufacturer markings. Condition shows expected age and service wear, including scratches, scuffs, surface oxidation, accumulated dust, and deterioration to the cable’s outer covering. The cover, key lever, and adjustment hardware remain movable; electrical operation has not been tested. Measures 6 x 3 inches and weighs approximately 1 pound (475 grams), including the cable and plug. A recognizable example of German WWII communications equipment, representing the manually operated telegraph keys used with military radio and signaling networks. Its original-style cord, plug, warning-marked cover, and exposed mechanical components give the piece strong appeal for collections of militaria, radio equipment, and early communications technology.
