This vintage German Morse code telegraph key features a black Bakelite housing mounted on a rectangular reddish-brown base. Its hinged cover is molded with a lightning-bolt electrical symbol and the German safety instruction "Vor dem Öffnen Stecker herausziehen," translating to "Unplug before opening." Lifting the cover reveals the metal contact mechanism, adjustable knurled screws, contact arms, and key lever with black operating knob. A single electrical cord terminates in a two-prong European-style 6A/250V plug marked “5555" with additional manufacturer markings. Condition shows moderate age-appropriate wear, including surface scratches, scuffs, oxidation, and wear to the metal components. A substantial break is present at the lower corner of the Bakelite housing where the cable assembly enters the unit, as shown. The mechanism and hinged cover remain movable; electrical operation has not been tested. Measures 6 x 3 inches and weighs approximately 1 pound (475 grams). An appealing example of German communications equipment from the mid-20th century, well suited for collections devoted to telegraphy, radio technology, electrical apparatus, or European industrial design.
