This German military hand-crank magneto generator is housed in a dovetailed hardwood case with metal fittings and an attached leather carrying strap. The unit retains its side crank with turned grip, binding posts, toggle controls, and upright terminal contacts. German identification plates marked "Anschluss Klinke" and "Vermittlung Klinke" remain in place, indicating connection and switching points for field communications equipment. The case shows expected age-related and service wear, including surface scuffs, oxidation to the metal components, wear to the leather strap, and a chipped wooden edge. Measures approximately 8.5 x 5 x 5 inches and weighs approximately 8 pounds (3,607 grams). Mechanical operation has not been tested.
