This portable German military field telephone switchboard is constructed with a dovetailed wooden case, black lacquered steel lid, and original leather carrying strap. The top panel is fitted with twenty numbered terminal posts, auxiliary terminals marked WH and W, and a red release switch. Opening the front panel reveals banks of rotary selector switches, numbered input controls, ten line connection ports, and bundled original cloth-covered cables with attached connectors. Interior markings include German script, manufacturer information, inspection stamps, and a 1944 date. Condition shows expected service wear, including scratches, finish loss, oxidation, and wear to the leather strap, all consistent with wartime use and storage. Measures approximately 14 x 8 x 6 inches and weighs approximately 18.6 pounds (8,437 grams). A substantial and increasingly scarce piece of WWII German communications equipment, offering exceptional display appeal and representing the field telephone networks used to coordinate military operations.
