Manufactured by Ferdinand Schuchhardt Berliner Fernsprech- & Telegraphenwerk, this German field telephone is housed in a dovetailed wooden case reinforced with metal corner fittings and fitted with its original leather carrying strap. The unit retains its external metal and Bakelite receiver, horn-style transmitter, cloth-covered cord, hand-crank generator, rotary selector switch, and original internal wiring. An exterior identification plate bearing the manufacturer's name and serial number remains attached. Condition shows honest service wear, including heavy finish loss, surface scuffs, oxidation to the metal components, and age-related wear to the wood and leather strap. The communication components remain present. Measures approximately 9 x 8.5 x 3.5 inches and weighs approximately 8.1 pounds (3,681 grams). Mechanical operation has not been tested. A fine example of early German field communications equipment, showcasing quality prewar engineering and offering strong historical and display appeal. SC
