This item is an early West German Bundeswehr (BRD) olive-drab field cap (Panzerschutzmütze / early armored troops beret variant) constructed from heavy olive wool. Features include a soft grey synthetic leather brim/band around the base and a machine-woven trapezoidal insignia on the front depicting crossed swords over a German national cockade. The interior features an unlined twill crown with a sewn contract tag marked codeba KG / US 12 e / 01 / 07893 / 001 / 2 / 1/63 / 57. The exterior wool displays moderate moth damage with several distinct nibbles and small holes along the lower wool fold edge, while the interior lining shows light age discoloration and dust accumulation.
