This original WWII German Heer M40 field blouse is constructed of feldgrau wool with the regulation dark bottle-green collar, a defining feature of the early-war pattern. The tunic features four pleated patch pockets with scalloped flaps, a concealed front button closure, and a partial cotton lining with stamped size markings, including 43, 96, 41, 71, 62, and Lt. 40, signifying size and location of manufacture as well as stationed unit location. The visible "43" is not a manufacturing date but part of the garment's size markings. Without an RBNr., depot stamp, or dated acceptance mark, the exact year of manufacture cannot be determined from these photographs alone, though the M40 pattern places production approximately between 1940 and 1943.The rear retains its integral waist support belt with sewn adjustment pleats, while the overall tailoring reflects standard wartime Heer construction. The blouse displays honest service wear, including a hole in the right sleeve, light edge wear, and scattered age-related use, but remains structurally sound and retains its original wartime configuration.
