This two-drawer bachelor's chest is designed in the French Provincial style. The piece features a serpentine front and a top with a contoured, ogee-molded edge. It stands on four short cabriole legs terminating in whorl feet. The drawer fronts are embellished with carved foliate and scroll motifs and are fitted with ornate, cast brass-finished bail handles. A decorative carved apron joins the front legs. The case features a reddish-brown stained finish over wood veneers. The drawer interiors are constructed from a light-colored secondary wood and utilize machine-joined construction. Condition: The chest is in fair condition with visible signs of wear. The top surface shows significant finish loss, heavy scratching, and abrasions. Finish wear and minor chipping are present along the contoured edges of the top and drawer fronts. The hardware displays a light patina.
