This two-piece armoire is constructed in the French Provincial style with a reddish-brown cherry or cherry-toned finish. The upper section features an arched, molded bonnet top pediment above two paneled doors. The doors are decorated with carved shell and foliate scroll motifs and are fitted with long, scrolled cast brass-toned escutcheon plates. The interior is fitted with an upper shelf featuring two vertical dividers over three internal drawers with cast metal pulls. The lower section consists of a bombe-front chest containing two full-width drawers. These drawer fronts feature carved foliate motifs matching the upper cabinet and are fitted with ornate swing-handle pulls. The piece is supported by short cabriole legs terminating in whorl feet, connected by a shaped and carved apron. A skeleton key is present in the lock. Condition: The armoire is in good condition with minor surface wear and small scratches consistent with use. There is a small area of finish loss on the top rail of the base section, located between the upper doors and the lower drawers. The hardware appears original and the drawers operate smoothly.
