This two-drawer bachelor's chest is designed in the French Provincial style, featuring a serpentine front, sides, and top. The drawer fronts are embellished with carved foliate appliques and fitted with ornate antiqued brass-tone cast metal bail pulls with foliate and scroll motifs. The piece is supported by cabriole legs ending in scroll feet. Construction consists of wood veneers in a reddish-brown finish over secondary woods. The drawers feature machine-constructed joinery with hardwood sides and composite bottoms. Condition: The piece shows visible wear to the top surface, including a prominent white heat or water mark and scattered scratches. Minor scuffs, nicks, and areas of finish loss are present on the edges, drawer fronts, and feet. Hardware shows some light tarnishing consistent with age.
