This impressive 32-inch antique German bisque socket head doll embodies the collaboration between C.M. Bergmann and Simon & Halbig, dating to the early 20th century. Her porcelain head is beautifully molded and painted, featuring hallmark maker's incised markings and size 14 ½ on the back of the neck. She displays a delicate complexion with rosy cheeks, feathered brows, upper and lower painted lashes, pierced ears with vintage dangle earrings, and an open mouth showing molded upper teeth. Dressed in an added vintage black dress with a pink and white floral vine pattern, lace collar, black shoes, and a large black hair bow, she is mounted on her original fully jointed composition and wood body with a glossy finish. The eyes retain their original sleep mechanism with age-appropriate cracking and chipping to the wax eyelids, while the body exhibits minor wear, light scuffing, and finish crazing at the joints. This grand cabinet-sized doll would be a standout in any advanced collection.
