This display doll features an authentic antique bisque socket head made in Germany by Armand Marseille between 1890-1920, with the distinctive "Queen Louise" incised mark, mold number 31,5 and marked 12. The finely hand-painted head features feathered eyebrows, lower lashes, blushed cheeks, open mouth with visible upper porcelain teeth, and large blue glass eyes. The head is mounted on a vintage Vernon Seeley composition body, fully jointed at the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, and knees and bearing the Seeley copyright stamp. Outfitted in a lace-trimmed burgundy red dress with matching hair bow, cotton pantaloons, dark knit socks, and holding a vintage paper posy. Condition shows surface wear, light scuffs, and age patina to the body, mild wear to facial paint, and careful restoration. An impressive marriage of original Armand Marseille artistry and Seeley's collector craftsmanship.
