A Pewabic Pottery commemorative earthenware tile issued for the 150th anniversary of the Michigan State Fair in 1998. The square tile is relief-molded with a central image of the historic Detroit Stove, a massive wooden replica originally created for the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition that later became a landmark at the state fairgrounds. The design is framed by banners reading MICHIGAN at the top and STATE FAIR at the bottom, with 150th impressed at the base. The tile is finished in a glossy mottled green glaze with pooled highlights in the recesses. The reverse features an integral hanging notch and a circular impressed factory mark containing the text PEWABIC DETROIT surrounding the year 1998. This item includes its original white cardboard presentation box featuring a black-and-white illustration of the Pewabic Pottery studio and an informational insert titled History of the Detroit Stove.Measures: 4 inches x 4 inches.The tile is in excellent condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs.
