Title: Girl Embracing a Bomb with Red NO Technique: Spray paint on cardboard Measures: 34 x 21 inches (86.4 x 53.3 cm) Year: Undated Condition: Appears in fair to good overall condition. The surface shows crisp stenciled edges with soft spray overspray around the forms. The cardboard exhibits creasing, wrinkling and fold lines throughout, visible across the black painted areas. Two printed stickers are applied to the surface. Presented unframed. Condition is described from the photographs supplied. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the condition description. Provenance: Private collection, London, United Kingdom. Visual Description: A stenciled image in black spray paint of a young girl with a bob haircut and a bow in her hair, her eyes closed as she hugs a large bomb against her chest. The bomb’s tail fins rise behind her head at the upper left, and the word “NO” is stenciled in red across her forehead. She wears a flared skirt, with her legs cut off at the lower edge. The image is set against the bare brown cardboard ground with soft overspray around the edges. A printed sticker at the left reads “STOP THE WAR Demonstrate Saturday 15 Feb 2003,” and a small round sticker reading “DON’T ATTACK IRAQ” is applied at the right. No signature is visible in the photographs supplied. This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
