Title: Portrait of Frida Kahlo with a Red Headscarf and Blue Blouse Technique: Watercolor on paper Measures: 12 x 9 inches (30.5 x 22.9 cm) Year: Undated. Condition: The visible surface appears well preserved in the supplied photograph, retaining clear details and vibrant coloration. A small reddish mark is visible near the lower edge of the paper. Presented in a textured gold-toned frame. The paper beneath the framing and its reverse have not been assessed. Provenance: From a private New Mexico collection. Information concerning its earlier ownership and acquisition dates was not supplied. The above provenance reflects the ownership information provided at the time the artwork was received for cataloging. Visual Description: This layered portrait depicts Frida Kahlo facing the viewer, with dark braided hair adorned by a large red headscarf. Warm ochre, peach, and rose washes model the face, contrasted by dark eyebrows, a direct gaze, and deep red lips. Decorative earrings and a layered necklace with a circular pendant complement a vivid blue blouse. An enlarged, partially cropped gray portrait appears behind the principal figure on the right, creating a contrast between the colorful foreground likeness and its monochromatic counterpart. Areas of exposed paper lend openness to the composition and emphasize the transparent watercolor passages. Bears an inscription reading "Frida Kahlo" in the upper left.
