The sheet shows fresh color with visible brushwork; minor handling marks or light surface wear may be present. Presented under a linen-textured mat with a gold fillet in a gold-toned frame. Provenance: From a private collection in Pennsylvania. Visual Description: A seated woman in a loose green dress and blue necklace rests on a dark patterned stool beside a gathered orange-red curtain. Behind her a balcony rail opens onto a bright blue sea with a single sailboat, a violet headland and a sky of soft white clouds. A small green vase of yellow and pink flowers stands on a striped table at left, and the floor is laid in a diamond lattice pattern. Color is applied in loose, decorative washes with dark outlining. The work bears an inscription reading “Henri Matisse” in red at the lower right. This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
