Title: Biomorphic Figures and Colored Constellations Technique: Mixed media on paper Measures: 8 x 11.5 inches (approximately 20.3 x 29.2 cm) Year: Undated Condition: Good overall condition. The work retains bold coloration, strong contrast, and clearly defined graphic elements. The paper exhibits visible toning, minor surface wear, handling marks, and age-related imperfections. An inscription reading “Miró” appears in the lower-right corner. Provenance: From a private Spanish-American collection. According to family recollection, the work was brought from Barcelona to the United States during the 1980s and remained in the family’s possession thereafter. Documentation concerning its acquisition in Spain is unavailable. Visual Description: This energetic abstract composition presents a group of biomorphic black forms surrounded by brightly colored arcs, bars, and softly diffused circular accents. A large rounded figure dominates the center and is animated by projecting linear elements and small interior passages of red, blue, and yellow. Additional abstract figures occupy the upper-left and lower portions of the composition, connected through a strong horizontal black line. Curved bands of red, blue, and green generate rhythm and movement across the neutral-toned paper, while sprayed or stippled areas of yellow, blue, violet, red, and orange create atmospheric points of color. The interplay of organic silhouettes, floating symbols, primary colors, and open space evokes a dreamlike visual vocabulary associated with Surrealism, abstraction, and twentieth-century modernism. This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
