This color-printed mezzotint, titled A Morning Greeting, was engraved by S. Arlent Edwards after a painting by G. Hillyard Swinstead. The composition depicts a young barefoot woman in a bonnet and apron standing by a stream with a flock of geese, set against a background of a thatched-roof cottage and flowering trees. Several printed inscriptions are visible along the bottom margin: PAINTED BY G. HILLYARD SWINSTEAD at the lower left, ENGRAVED BY S. ARLENT EDWARDS at the lower right, and the title A MORNING GREETING centered at the bottom. A publication line above the title reads: London, Published March 20th 1888, by P. & D. Colnaghi & Co. 13 & 14, Pall Mall East. New York, Fishel, Adler & Schwartz, 94 Fulton Street. The work is housed in a dark-stained wood frame featuring carved corner accents with floral and basket-weave motifs. The frame is finished with a solid wood panel backing. Approximate dimensions (measured in inches against a tape measure): H 67.3 cm x W 55.9 cm. Condition: The paper displays even toning consistent with its age. The print impression quality is clear. The wooden frame shows minor cosmetic wear, including light surface scuffs and a slight separation at the upper-left corner joint.
