This vintage apartment-sized electric stove, manufactured by General Steel Wares Limited under the McClary brand, is a notable example of early 20th-century Canadian industrial design with Art Deco styling. The range is constructed of steel with a cream-colored porcelain enamel finish accented by black enamel trim. The cooktop features two burners with open-coil heating elements housed in ceramic plates. The compact oven compartment includes a single interior rack and a drop-down door finished on the interior with black and white speckled porcelain enamel. A circular thermometer is integrated into the center of the oven door with a scale from 100 to 500 degrees Fahrenheit, marked Warm, Hot, and Very Hot. The design features stylized black speed line motifs on the oven door and lower panel. The unit includes a high backguard topped with a narrow warming shelf and stands on four curved legs with adjustable leveling feet. Two black control knobs are positioned on the front panel above the oven door. Small chips are present in the porcelain enamel finish, primarily along the edges of the warming shelf, legs, and body panels. The cooktop burners and surrounding area show surface staining and carbon buildup from use. The oven interior displays minor surface oxidation along the lower seams. The original power cord shows signs of significant age and wear; professional inspection and testing are required before any attempt is made to operate this electrical appliance.
