Stamped Brass Hat Badge Insignia. Dating to the late 19th-century Indian Wars era (c. 1870s–1890s), this authentic unsigned US Army Infantry brass hat insignia badge is shaped in the traditional hunting or bugle horn form and measures approximately 3.25 inches wide by 1.75 inches high. Crafted from stamped sheet brass with embossed foliate band detailing around the flare and throat, the emblem features lead-soldered wire loops on its hollow reverse intended for mounting onto kepis, slouch hats, or dress helmets, making it a desirable artifact for Civil War and military insignia collectors. The badge presents in original, unrestored antique condition with a dark, aged brass patina, crisp relief stamping, and light surface tarnish or minor scratches across the front, while its reverse shows stable solder joints with one partly intact wire loop and one exhibiting wear and loss.
