AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > Measuring 36" square, this vintage white handwoven textile is labeled CHURCHILL WEAVERS handwoven, with a separate sewn tag identifying the material as 100% cotton. Features a subtle geometric woven pattern throughout with short fringe around the perimeter. The smaller square format and lightweight woven construction make this suitable as a lap cover, baby blanket, decorative throw or accent textile. Churchill Weavers was founded in Berea, Kentucky in 1922 and became one of the best-known American handweaving companies, producing handwoven throws, blankets, apparel and decorative textiles for a national market. The company became closely associated with the Appalachian craft revival and with preserving handweaving as both a traditional craft and a viable commercial art form. The restrained geometric pattern and all-white palette seen here are consistent with Churchill Weavers’ long tradition of combining traditional handweaving techniques with practical household textiles. CONDITION REPORT > Stored safely. This textile has not been recently laundered but has no overt odor. Perhaps typical and minor elements relative to age, minimal use and materials.
