AVAILABLE FOR SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > A group of -8- hand-painted French faience demitasse or espresso cups with -3- coordinating saucers, marked to the underside FAIT MAIN À ROUEN, identifying the pieces as handmade in Rouen, France, with individual handwritten decorator or artist signatures beneath. The cups stand 2.5" tall and measure around 2.5" in diameter to the body, while the saucers measure 5" in diameter. The group features several varying traditional Rouen patterns, including cobalt blue floral baskets, multicolor floral sprays, berries, foliage, butterflies and small botanical motifs, all tied together by the characteristic white faience ground and blue-bordered decoration. Rouen has been an important center of French faience production for centuries, particularly associated with richly hand-painted floral and ornamental decoration. These pieces continue that regional tradition through handmade production and individually painted designs. Rather than forming one uniform matched pattern, this is an assembled collection of coordinating Rouen faience demitasse wares, with the different floral and botanical treatments giving the group a collected-over-time character while the shared Fait Main à Rouen markings, scale, palette and decorative style visually unite the set. CONDITION REPORT > Overall, well preserved examples.
