AVAILABLE FOR SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > Group of four hand-painted Italian pottery pieces representing the celebrated ceramic traditions of Florence in Tuscany and Deruta in Umbria. The collection includes two individually decorated bottle and vase forms together with a matching pair of pedestal egg cups. 1 > Standing 5.5" tall and measuring 3.5" in diameter across the rounded shoulder, this blue-and-white bottle-form vase features a narrow cylindrical neck rising from a full ovoid body. Hand-painted decoration incorporates a large cobalt-blue flower surrounded by bold leaves and smaller floral devices, with horizontal blue bands encircling the neck, shoulder and lower body. The neck is further decorated with a continuous band of stylized arrow or leaf forms. Underside is marked DIP. A MANO ~ X MERY B ~ FIRENZE, identifying the piece as hand painted in Florence and signed Mery B. 2 > Standing 5.75" tall and measuring 3.75" in diameter across the shoulder, this Florence pottery vase has a shaped baluster body, pedestal foot and dramatically flared scalloped rim edged in golden yellow. The principal decorative band features alternating green leaves and ochre pendant blossoms against a deep cobalt-blue ground, accented with rust, turquoise, black hatching and geometric borders. The lower body retains a warm ivory ground crossed by fine painted bands. Underside is marked FIRENZE ~ DIP. A MANO, meaning Florence ~ painted by hand. 3 > Matching pair of Deruta pottery egg cups, traditionally known in Italy as portauovo. Each compact vessel has a rounded cup raised upon a narrow stem and broad flared pedestal foot, the traditional form designed to support a soft-boiled egg upright for serving. Both are decorated with continuous bands of stylized leaves and small blossoms in cobalt blue, green, red and yellow, separated by black, blue and yellow lines. Undersides are individually hand marked DERUTA, identifying the Umbrian town internationally renowned for colorful tin-glazed earthenware or maiolica production since the Renaissance, but not identifying a specific pottery workshop. Although complementary in palette and Italian folk-art character, the four pieces are not a manufactured matching set. Together, they provide an appealing small collection of functional and decorative Italian ceramics suitable for display, flowers or traditional table use. CONDITION REPORT > Overall, well preserved examples.
