AVAILABLE FOR SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > A charming early 20th-century German porcelain lustreware tea set, with the teapot standing 5.5" tall and measuring about 3" in diameter, accompanied by matching cups, saucers, creamer and covered sugar bowl. Each piece is marked MADE IN GERMANY to the underside. The set is finished in a warm iridescent peach-orange lustre glaze with darker contrasting bands and gold-tone accents. The lustre surface produces the characteristic metallic or pearlescent sheen associated with German export porcelain of the 1920s–1930s. German factories produced substantial quantities of this decorative lustreware for the American market during that period. Comparable documented German sets are routinely dated to the 1920s and early 1930s. The diminutive scale strongly supports identification as a child's or doll size tea party service. These miniature services were intended for children's tea parties and play while closely imitating adult tableware in form, glazing and decoration. Their ceramic construction and elaborate lustre finish also made them attractive display pieces, and surviving complete or largely complete sets are now collected both as antique children's tableware and German Art Deco lustreware. CONDITION REPORT > As discovered, not cleaned or altered. Exhibits evidence of age, prior use and storage, with variations and wear to the lustre and decorative finishes consistent with early 20th-century porcelain.
