AVAILABLE FOR SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > Three-piece group of hand-painted Mexican Talavera-style pottery from Puebla, including two small mugs and a decorative hanging cross. 1 > Floral mug, standing 2.5" tall, measuring 2.25" in diameter to the body, not including the extended handle, decorated in cobalt blue, yellow, green and orange with a large raised floral motif. Underside is hand marked TALAVERA Hdez. Pue. Mex. 2 > Blue and white mug, standing 2.5" tall, measuring 2.25" in diameter to the body, not including the extended handle, decorated with bold cobalt blue foliate and scroll designs. Underside carries the same hand-applied TALAVERA Hdez. Pue. Mex. marking. 3 > Decorative pottery cross, measuring 6" tall x 4.5" wide overall, hand painted with orange flowers, green leaves, cobalt blue border and blue dot decoration against a pale blue and white ground. Reverse is unglazed and hand marked TALAVERA Hdez. Pue. Mex., with pierced hanging hole and raffia tie. Talavera pottery has been associated with Puebla, Mexico since the colonial period, combining Spanish ceramic traditions with Mexican materials and decorative influences. Traditional Puebla wares are especially recognized for strong cobalt blue decoration, floral motifs and hand-painted surface work, with later workshops expanding the palette to include yellow, green, orange and other colors.
