AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > Offered as a pair of vintage tortoiseshell-effect composition vanity combs, remarkably well preserved with all teeth intact to both examples. 1 > WEB STERLING COMB ~ Measures 4.5 inches long and is fitted with a sterling silver spine cover incised WEB STERLING, identifying production by the Web Silver Company of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. 2 > VANITY COMB ~ Measures 5.5 inches long and displays the same traditional tortoiseshell-effect coloration in a longer grooming form. Founded around 1950 in Philadelphia, the Web Silver Company produced sterling silver hollowware, personal accessories, baby cups, frames, serving pieces and novelty wares. The company acquired the dies of the Weidlich Sterling Spoon Company in 1952 and later became associated with Salisbury Sterling. The warm mottled amber and brown coloration of both combs was designed in the manner of natural tortoiseshell, a fashionable material historically associated with fine vanity and grooming accessories. CONDITION REPORT > Both combs are remarkably well preserved with all teeth intact. Typical tarnish to surface of the sterling silver spine cover.
