AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > Pair of vintage Heraclio Fournier VICTORIA No. 27 Spanish playing card decks, each containing 50 cards and housed in a fitted rigid clear plastic case. The colorful face card identifies ~HERACLIO FOURNIER / VICTORIA~ and ~Nº 27 / 50 cartas~, while the reverse displays a red geometric and floral pattern. The rigid cases are especially distinctive, molded in relief with the ornate ~NAIPES / HERACLIO FOURNIER / VITORIA / ESPAÑA~ trademark incorporating an architectural view. The darkened-background photograph shown was prepared to make this otherwise subtle molded relief easier to see. Heraclio Fournier founded his printing business in Vitoria, Spain in 1870 and became one of the most important names in Spanish playing-card production. The firm developed a strong reputation for quality printing and traditional Spanish-suited cards, with Fournier decks becoming widely distributed and collected. These VICTORIA No. 27 decks are traditional Spanish-suited 50-card packs, associated with the suits of coins, cups, swords and clubs rather than the familiar hearts, diamonds, spades and clubs of standard American decks. Both decks remain factory sealed in cellophane within their fitted plastic cases, a notable preservation point that has helped keep the cards exceptionally well protected. The combination of the recognized Fournier name, traditional Spanish format, period graphics, molded cases and unopened condition gives the pair substantially greater collector appeal than an ordinary deck of playing cards. CONDITION REPORT > Factory sealed decks remain enclosed in cellophane within the fitted plastic cases ~ Overall, notably well-preserved examples.
