NO SHIPPING ~ LOCAL PICKUP ONLY > Substantial three-piece Gail Pittman Splendor pottery crock beverage dispenser, standing 18" tall overall including the matching riser and lid, with the crock measuring 9" in diameter at the shoulder. Weighing a notable 10 pounds as standing. The set consists of the large lidded beverage crock, separate pierced pedestal riser and fitted lid, with a black dispensing spigot mounted to the lower front. The Splendor pattern was produced from 1994 through 2005 and is now discontinued. The design features sweeping hand-painted green foliage with dark blue-purple floral or berry-like clusters against a cream ground, accented by deep blue banding to the lid and riser. The handwritten Gail Pittman ’94 markings on this example place it at the very beginning of the Splendor pattern’s production period. The pierced ceramic riser elevates the crock to provide clearance beneath the spigot for serving glasses while continuing the decorative pattern around the base. This form is best described as a crock beverage dispenser, suitable for iced tea, lemonade, punch and other cold beverages. Gail Pittman began producing hand-painted pottery in Mississippi in the late 1970s, developing the business from small-scale production into one of the state’s best-known decorative pottery companies. By the 1990s, Gail Pittman Designs had become particularly recognized for colorful hand-painted dinnerware, serving pieces and large entertaining accessories such as this dispenser. A substantial and highly decorative early-production example of the discontinued Splendor pattern, complete with crock, riser and lid. CONDITION REPORT > A notably well preserved example.
