Antique Brass and Mirror Vestibule Last Look Hall Mirror with Clothes Brushes. Age: Late Victorian to Edwardian period, circa 1890–1910. Dimensions: Mirror Frame: 11.75 H x 15.5 W inches. Removable Brushes: 7 H x 1.75 W inches each. An unusual and highly decorative antique vestibule or last look hall mirror dating to the late Victorian or early Edwardian era. Designed to be mounted near an entryway, these practical household accessories allowed one final inspection of one's appearance before leaving the home. The rectangular mirror is set within an embossed brass-clad frame featuring repeating oval and geometric motifs inspired by late 19th-century aesthetic and neoclassical decorative arts. Flanking the central mirror are two removable clothes brushes fitted with natural bristles and housed in matching embossed brass mounts. The brushes suspend from small hooks and were intended for removing lint, dust, or debris from garments immediately before departure. The combination of mirror and integrated grooming accessories exemplifies the thoughtful utility and decorative craftsmanship characteristic of turn-of-the-century household furnishings. The warm gilt-toned brass surface displays a rich aged patina, while the mirror retains good reflective quality. Examples of vestibule mirrors with their original matching brushes are increasingly difficult to find and remain sought after by collectors of Victorian decorative arts, country house furnishings, and unusual functional antiques. Condition: Overall good antique condition consistent with age and use. Brass surfaces exhibit oxidation, scattered wear, rubbing, minor dents, and age-related patina. Mirror plate shows light surface wear and minor spotting. Brushes retain their original natural bristles with expected wear and some losses.
