Florentine Giltwood Decorative Charger / Wall Plate. Dimensions: 11.5 inches diameter. Italian, mid to late 20th century, likely 1960s–1980s. Hand-decorated Florentine giltwood charger or wall plate of scalloped circular form, retaining its original polychrome and gilt finish. The surface is richly embellished with Renaissance-inspired foliate ornament in muted green, cream, gold, and burgundy tones surrounding a central quatrefoil cartouche. The reverse bears the original "Florentia – Made in Italy" label, identifying production from the celebrated Florentine decorative arts workshops known for hand-painted and gilded wooden furnishings and accessories. The distressed finish and craquelure-like decoration were intentionally incorporated to evoke the appearance of aged Italian antiques. A decorative example suitable for wall display or tabletop presentation. Condition: Expected surface wear consistent with age and use, including scattered scratches, rubbing, losses to gilt decoration, finish wear, edge abrasions, and discoloration to the reverse. Original paper label partially worn. No significant structural issues observed. This auction house considers the photographs to be the condition report. Provenance: From the estate of a distinguished Georgia physician, whose collection of fine art, antiques, jewelry, and decorative objects was carefully assembled over a period of decades.
