Distinctive antique shoeshine chair or bootblack stand constructed with a tall wrought-iron framework incorporating twisted iron supports, scrolling openwork back decoration, and a round wooden customer seat elevated above the working area. The lower section is fitted with a broad metal platform and a wooden slat seat/platform flanked by shaped iron shoe rests, allowing the bootblack or shoeshiner to work while the customer remained seated above. The combination of hand-worked iron, utilitarian wood surfaces, and decorative scrollwork gives the piece strong late 19th- to early 20th-century commercial character. Condition shows substantial age-related wear including oxidation, surface rust, scuffs, scratches, finish loss, staining, and wear to the wood and metal surfaces consistent with long use and age. Measures 52"H x 22" W x 32"W seat height is 23.5" tall
