Charming early 20th century Continental figural sculpture depicting an elegantly dressed 18th-century gentleman standing in a formal pose, modeled in a dark patinated bronze with finely detailed frock coat, waistcoat, breeches, stockings, shoes, and accessories. The figure carries a hat at his side and features a contrasting carved cream-colored head with tied queue, giving the work the appearance of the chryselephantine bronze figures popular in Austria, Germany, and France during the early 1900s. Mounted on a circular bronze plinth with beaded border over a shaped cream alabaster pedestal base finished with additional gilt-metal beaded trim. The cream-colored head appears to be carved bone. No visible artist signature is apparent in the provided images. Shows age-related surface wear, rubbing and oxidation to the bronze and metal trim, along with light scratches, discoloration and minor wear to the alabaster base. Measures 8.5"H x 2.75"W.
