Large semi-antique Chinese Peking hand-knotted wool room-size rug featuring a rich cranberry-red field punctuated by three vertically arranged floral medallions and accented at the corners with stylized scrolling floral sprays in green, cream, black, and soft pink. The broad border is particularly striking, composed of bold geometric fretwork in black, rose, cream, and gold tones, with a narrow black inner guard dotted in white and a deep black outer border. The spacious field, restrained medallion arrangement, and strong geometric framing are characteristic of Chinese Peking decorative carpets produced for Western interiors. The present rug displays an attractive, evenly aged surface with some tonal variation and expected light pile wear, together with scattered surface soiling and minor marks consistent with use; the white fringe shows wear, tangling, unevenness, and scattered losses, particularly along the ends, while the principal field and borders appear generally intact. Measures 12'6"H x 8'11"W.
