Charming early 20th century Louis XVI style occasional or vanity stool featuring a rounded upholstered seat worked in floral needlepoint, centered with a large rose and surrounding floral and foliate decoration in muted rose, gold, green, cream, and blue tones. The cushion is secured with a border of decorative nailhead trim above a carved wood apron embellished with incised geometric and foliate ornament and applied carved floral blocks at the legs. Supported on four fluted and turned legs joined by a shaped cross-form stretcher, the stool displays the restrained neoclassical detailing associated with Louis XVI inspired furniture. The needlepoint shows age-related fading, discoloration, surface wear, and scattered losses or thinning consistent with use, while the wood frame exhibits scratches, scuffs, finish wear, and minor nicks appropriate to age. Measures 16"H x 16"W x 13"D.
