A wonderfully expressive Italian porcelain terrier figure modeled in a seated pose, distinguished by exceptionally elaborate hand-applied porcelain curls forming the dog’s shaggy eyebrows, muzzle, cheeks, and pom-pom tail. The animated face is especially engaging, with large amber-brown painted eyes, a glossy black nose, fine dotted whisker details, and a slightly tilted head that gives the figure a playful, almost humanized expression. One raised ear is decorated with a colorful applied bee, painted in warm amber and brown with vivid blue wings, creating a charming focal point against the predominantly white body. The sculptor has contrasted the dense applied curls around the face and tail with more broadly modeled, flowing fur along the body and legs, giving the piece considerable texture and dimensional interest. The underside is marked “ITALY” and pierced with a firing/vent hole. Overall, the figurine presents well, though the highly delicate applied porcelain curls show scattered small chips and losses to some tips, particularly around the facial furnishings and tail, along with light surface wear and minor soiling consistent with age and handling. Measures 7.75" H x 9" W x 4.25" D.
