A lively and highly decorative German porcelain figural group depicting the famous Town Musicians of Bremen, with the four animals stacked one atop another in the classic composition: a gray donkey at the base, a white-and-brown dog above, a glossy black cat, and a white rooster crowning the arrangement. Each animal is modeled with animated open mouths and expressive posture, giving the piece a strong sense of movement and character, while the restrained naturalistic palette of gray, brown, black, white, red, and yellow is finished in a high-gloss glaze. The group stands on a softly modeled pale green oval ground edged with a gilt band. The underside bears the green Hutschenreuther Germany Kunstabteilung factory mark beneath the lion emblem and “1814,” along with impressed/painted numerals, and retains an older paper label reading Lorenz Hutschenreuther Kunstabteilung with inventory numbers. The sculpture is associated with Hutschenreuther’s art porcelain division and represents one of the firm’s more whimsical animal compositions inspired by the Brothers Grimm tale. Overall presentation is very attractive, with light surface wear and minor signs of handling consistent with age; no major breakage or obvious restoration is visible in the photographs. Measures 7.75" H x 6" W.
