Large oil on canvas landscape painting, signed R. Andrews in the lower right corner, depicting a tranquil river valley framed by mature trees and distant rocky hills beneath a broad, softly clouded sky. A winding path moves through the foreground along the water’s edge, leading the eye toward the open middle distance and a calm stretch of river that reflects the muted light above. Tall trees on the left create a strong vertical anchor, while the lower vegetation, grasses, and flowering plants are rendered with textured, layered brushwork in olive, green, gold, russet, and cream tones. The distant hills and open water are handled more softly, creating an atmospheric sense of depth and a peaceful pastoral character. The overall composition has a traditional romantic landscape quality with balanced light, naturalistic color, and gently modeled forms throughout. Presented in an ornate gilt-toned frame with layered foliate and beaded relief decoration.
