Large signed oil on canvas landscape painting depicting a pastoral countryside scene with farmers, livestock, and a winding river set beneath a broad, cloud-filled sky. Signed in the lower right corner, the composition features a dirt path leading through the foreground where a black herding dog follows a small flock of sheep, while additional cattle stand near a rustic watering area at left and figures work beyond a gate near the riverbank. Towering mature trees frame both sides of the scene, opening toward a broad stretch of water and distant fields rendered in warm autumnal greens, ochres, browns, and muted golds. The painting is executed with detailed, layered brushwork, particularly throughout the foliage, animals, and foreground terrain, giving the work a traditional English pastoral character and a strong sense of depth. The signature is difficult to decipher. The painting also appears to have a dark marker-like marking near the upper left portion of the sky. Presented in a decorative cream-toned frame with raised geometric and textured ornament. The frame has scattered scuffs, scratches, and a few nicks consistent with age and handling. Sight measures 39.5" x 29.75". Frame measures 44.5" x 34.5".
