Vintage Yale & Towne brass railroad padlock made for the Signal Department of the Nickel Plate Road, formally the New York, Chicago & St. Louis Railroad. One side features the classic raised Yale logo, while the reverse is prominently marked "MADE FOR SIGNAL NICKEL PLATE R.R. DEPT." Shackle is marked "THE YALE & TOWNE MFG. CO." and "MADE IN U.S.A." Measures approximately 3.25 inches high x 1.25 inches wide. Tested and working with the included key. Heavy brass construction with surface wear, scratches, discoloration and patina consistent with age and railroad service. Mid-20th century railroad era. A very collectible piece of Nickel Plate Road signal-department hardware with strong railroad markings and working key.
