Antique brass railroad-style padlock manufactured by J.H.W. Climax Company of Newark, New Jersey, U.S.A., as marked around the shackle. Features a Scandinavian-style lever mechanism, rotating brass keyhole cover, attached steel chain, and the pictured key. The lock has been tested and works. No individual railroad initials were found on the photographed surfaces; however, this heavy-duty lock style and attached chain are consistent with railroad and industrial use. Dating to the early 20th century, circa 1900–1930. Measures approximately 3 inches x 2.5 inches, excluding the chain. Displays aged brass patina, scratches, oxidation, and wear appropriate for its age and use. This piece came from the railroad collection of Mr. Percy Hill of Magnolia, Mississippi.
