WITH INLAID GOLD AND SILVER INLAID PINE STONE TIGER SHAPE. Height:11cm (4.33in) , Width:5cm (1.97in) , Weight:1132g (2.496lb) A Pair of Warring States Bronze Tiger Ornaments Inlaid with Gold, Silver and Turquoise This matching pair of bronze fittings is modeled as curved tigers with square tenon bases for mounting on furniture, screens or carriage harnesses. Gold and silver wire inlay depicts scroll and scale patterns all over the tiger bodies, with turquoise strips inlaid along the manes and torso. The eyes are set with black glass beads, and the open-mouthed tigers bear a solemn, imposing aura. In ancient Chinese culture, tigers were auspicious beasts that ward off evil and symbolize authority. The luxurious gold-silver and turquoise inlay technique was exclusive to nobility, and the paired form represents a complete ritual set, standing as a fine representative of Warring States bronze decorative craft.
