ANIMAL FACE PATTERNS FROM THE SHANG DYNASTY.
Height:20cm (7.87in) , Width:6.5cm (2.56in) , Weight:253g (0.558lb) Shang Dynasty Bronze Ge Inlaid with Turquoise, Decorated with Beast Mask Pattern This ceremonial bronze ge dagger-axe from the Shang Dynasty is cast in one piece, including blade, tang and rear handle. The rear section and upper blade are fully inlaid with fragmented turquoise pieces, forming symmetrical beast masks, kui-dragon patterns and interlocking square geometric motifs with distinct outlined beast eyes. The lower blade is plain with a tapered tip. It is a ritual parade artifact for nobility rather than a combat weapon. Turquoise inlay was exclusive royal craft in Shang; beast masks symbolize communication with heaven and warding off misfortune, making this ge a pinnacle of Shang bronze inlay art.

ALL PROPERTY IS SOLD AS IS, WHERE IS, WITH NO RETURNS OR CANCELLATIONS.

Additional photographs and condition reports may be provided upon request as a courtesy only.
