FIGURE VASE.
Height:35cm (13.78in) , Diameter:29cm (11.42in) This substantial jar features short straight neck, broad full shoulder, swelling belly and tapering lower body, a grand?sized storage and display vessel of Xuande reign. A six?character under?glaze?blue mark ??Da Ming Xuan De Nian Zhi?? is painted on shoulder. Bead?scroll and lotus?petal bands decorate neck and shoulder, with inverted lotus?petal frieze encircling the base. The main body depicts the eight immortals, each rendered in distinct postures, holding ritual implements or resting in conversation, set against auspicious clouds, rocks, orchids and bamboos in well?arranged composition. The cobalt?blue pigment presents rich deep tone with tonal variation typical of sumali blue material, drawn in forceful lines and vivid figure depiction. It has unglazed sandy base with solid body, marked by age?old scratches and stains from long circulation. The eight?immortal theme carries auspicious wishes for longevity and well?being. Robust in form and fine in painting, this is a rare surviving example of Ming blue?and?white figure jar.

ALL PROPERTY IS SOLD AS IS, WHERE IS, WITH NO RETURNS OR CANCELLATIONS.

Additional photographs and condition reports may be provided upon request as a courtesy only.
