ALGAE PATTERNS OF THE MING DYNASTY.
Height:36cm (14.17in) , Diameter:30cm (11.81in) This large jar has wide mouth, full shoulder, swelling belly and tapering lower body, paired with a lotus?leaf?shaped cover surmounted by a jewel?form knob. The cover is fully painted with fish and aquatic plants. Ruyi?lappet band encircles the shoulder, and rolling sea?wave pattern decorates the foot. The main body presents panoramic fish?and?lotus scene: several fish swim freely among luxuriant lotus leaves, blossoms and water weeds. Fish symbolize surplus and prosperity, conveying auspicious meaning of continuous abundance. The cobalt blue exhibits rich vibrant tone, rendered in bold fluent lines with dense yet well?organized composition. It has unglazed sandy base with yellowish?toned body, solid clay, and aged stains and patina along foot rim from long?term transmission. Complete with original cover, this is an important surviving Ming blue?and?white fish?theme vessel.

ALL PROPERTY IS SOLD AS IS, WHERE IS, WITH NO RETURNS OR CANCELLATIONS.

Additional photographs and condition reports may be provided upon request as a courtesy only.
