PEARL CLOUD PATTERN SQUARE SEAL. Height:9cm (3.54in) , Width:4.7cm (1.85in) , Weight:417g (0.919lb) A square seal of Qing Dynasty carved from Shoushan Tianhuang stone. The stone is translucent and succulent, with rich bright orange?yellow hue and distinct fibrous grain, covered by thick aged patina. The knob is high?relief carved with multiple chilong dragons swirling around a luminous pearl amid scrolling clouds. The powerful dynamically twisting chilong figures and flowing cloud patterns are rendered in elaborate multi?layer carving. The tall square seal body is stately and well?proportioned. The vermilion seal face bears solemn imperial seal?script characters enclosed within decorative border of dragon and phoenix beasts, with robust rounded strokes and deep clean grooves. Thick aged cinnabar seal?paste remains. Superb in both material and craftsmanship, it represents a fine example of Qing court?style Tianhuang seal.
