Set of 3 USMC Vietnam Marble Paperweights

Three Vietnam-era United States Marine Corps presentation paperweights, each a round marble disc roughly 2.5 inches across and about three quarters of an inch thick, with hand-engraved and painted faces. (1) A black-faced disc lettered KHE SANH, VIET-NAM, HUE CITY, CON THIEN and 1ST OF THE BEST OF THE 1ST around a First Marine Division diamond, with a pagoda, palms and rows of grave markers; the reverse is hand-inked A.W. KELLER LtCol C.O. USMC Sept - Oct 68. (2) A black and white disc for the 2ND BATTALION 27TH MARINES with a chevron marked GUADALCANAL; the reverse reads A.W. KELLER LtCol C.O. USMC June - Sept 68. (3) A grey marble disc engraved FIRST MARINE AIRCRAFT WING, DANANG VIETNAM, PRESENTED BY THE COMMANDING GENERAL with a winged Marine emblem; the reverse is inscribed to LtCol Keller and dated 10/4/68 over a signature in red. The original consignor listing called these challenge coins, which the photos do not support; they are carved stone presentation paperweights, not struck metal coins. Named, dated and unit-marked Vietnam pieces are what militaria buyers look for, because the inscription ties the group to one officer and one tour. Condition is very good, with light edge chips and handling wear. Sold as-is. Photos are the most accurate description of this lot. Written descriptions are a guide only and may contain errors.
