Two pieces of Hull art pottery, made in Crooksville, Ohio and among the most collected names in American mid-century pottery. (1) A footed double-handled vase about 6 inches tall in the pastel matte glaze Hull is known for, shading from pink through cream to a blue scalloped foot and molded with wildflowers and trailing leaves; the base is impressed Hull Art U.S.A. with a shape number that is not legible. (2) A glossy pink ewer about 5-1/2 inches tall with a raised blue blossom, green leaves and heavy gold trim on the handle and rim; the base is impressed U.S.A. Hull Art H-3-5 1/2, and the H prefix with a 5-1/2 inch size matches Hull's glossy Magnolia line of the late 1940s. Condition is fair. The larger vase has an old break and repair at one handle with yellowed adhesive still visible, a second hairline at the opposite handle joint, and crazing over the body; the consignor listing did not mention that repair. The ewer is in good condition with wear to the gold. Sold as-is. Photos are the most accurate description of this lot. Written descriptions are a guide only and may contain errors.
