Occupied Japan Figurine Half Doll and Holder

Three small ceramic pieces from the mid-twentieth century. (1) A hand-painted porcelain figurine of a young woman in a pink hat and rust jacket with a terrier at her side, about 3-1/2 inches tall, marked in red on the base MADE IN OCCUPIED JAPAN. That mark was only used from 1945 to 1952, while American occupation rules required it, so it dates the piece to a seven-year window. (2) A porcelain half-doll pin cushion, a lady in a green bonnet with arms held away from the body, on a peach velvet cushion with a silk and lace skirt, roughly 2-1/2 inches across. (3) An iridescent lustre-glazed figural holder, a girl in a wide skirt pierced with four round openings for lipsticks or toothbrushes, about 3-1/2 inches tall, unmarked with felt pads underneath. Good condition overall; the figurine shows light gilt wear, the pin cushion silk is frayed and discolored, and the lustre holder has light soiling to the unglazed base. Sold as-is.
