Aristocrat-Commissioned Madame de Pompadour Cameo 18K Gold Brooch-Pendant.

5.9*3cm Wt:18.7g
Entirely hand?crafted in 18K gold, the centre features a colour?contrasted agate cameo finely carved with the bust of Madame de Pompadour. Two?tone?gold three?dimensional foliate?drapery motifs encircle the cameo, accented by pearl settings. Noble and artistic in conception, the jewel fully conveys the regal romance of the French court. Both the clasp and pin assembly are fitted with small mechanical detachable fittings. Complete antique French eagle?head hallmark and maker's stamp are present. Madame de Pompadour, also known as the Marquise de Pompadour, was the close companion of King Louis?XV, wielding immense influence at court through her beauty and intellect. She shaped not only Louis?XV's governance but also exerted a profound impact upon French art. Together with her brother, she planned Place Louis?XV (today's Place de la Concorde), and extended patronage to numerous artisans as well as most writers of the Encyclop??diste circle. In her era, many writers, poets and painters gathered around her for artistic discourse. A direct patron and driving force behind Rococo art, she is honoured as ??the Mother of Rococo??.

ALL PROPERTY IS SOLD AS IS, WHERE IS, WITH NO RETURNS, REFUNDS, OR CANCELLATIONS.

Condition and Authenticity:

Any statement in the catalogue, condition report, photographs, video, invoice, or other written or oral communication regarding the origin, date, age, attribution, authorship, authenticity, provenance, material, condition, or estimated selling price of any lot is a statement of opinion only.
