This child's nursery feeding set comprises a ceramic dish and a matching silver-plated fork and spoon, manufactured in the United States. The set follows U.S. Design Patent 88343, granted in 1932 to designer Viktor Schreckengost. The ceramic dish, produced by The Salem China Co., is a shallow round earthenware feeding bowl featuring two integrated flat lug handles and gold-lined rims. The central well is decorated with a colour transfer print depicting a young girl in a blue dress and yellow apron feeding a teddy bear seated in a high chair. The handles feature gold-coloured instructional lettering: the left handle reads "I go here" says the Fork and the right handle reads "I go here" says the Spoon. The base bears a printed mark stating Made for INTERNATIONAL SILVER CO. U. S. Design Patent 88343 By The Salem China Co. The accompanying silver-plated flatware consists of a small child-sized fork and spoon with handles decorated in a scrolled foliate and beaded motif. The reverse of the cutlery handles is stamped HOLMES & EDWARDS and IS, indicating production by the Holmes & Edwards division of the International Silver Company. Measured against a ruler: Width across handles approx. 22.5 cm Cutlery length approx. 11.5 cm. Condition: The ceramic bowl exhibits significant fine crazing to the glaze throughout, with some minor age-related staining and surface marks. The silver-plated fork and spoon show light surface scratching and tarnishing consistent with age and domestic use. Free of chips, cracks, or restoration.
